How to feed
- Find your dog's daily amount in the feeding guide below.
- Ideally split the amount into two meals.
- Switch gradually over 7–10 days: 25% new food on days 1–3, 50% on days 4–6, 75% on days 7–9 and 100% from day 10.
- Give the food at least 8–12 weeks before deciding whether it suits your dog.
- Keep treats to the same protein source so feeding stays simple.
Stick to venison – in treats too
Treats with other protein sources make it harder to judge whether the food is working.
Is venison the right choice?
- Venison – if your dog has tried many protein sources such as chicken, beef and lamb.
- Salmon & Potato – if you want a fish-based monoprotein food.
- Herring & Potato – if both the animal protein and the animal fat should come from fish.
- Duck & Potato – a mild protein source with a different flavour profile from chicken.
- Duck Mini – for small breeds.
Frequently asked questions
When does the 20 kg bag make sense?
When you already know your dog does well on Venison & Potato and you want the best price per kilo. If you haven't tried the food before, we recommend starting with a smaller bag and moving up once you are confident in your choice.
How long should I give the food?
At least 8 weeks – ideally 12. That gives you a real basis for judging whether the food suits your dog.
The stools look different in the first few weeks. Is that normal?
Yes. Switching to a new food can temporarily change the appearance and consistency of the stools. Most owners find it settles within 2–4 weeks.
What should I do about treats?
Use treats from the same range – Allergy Treats Venison and Mini Snacks Venison keep the composition simple.
What if my dog won't eat it?
If you are new to Venison & Potato, start with 3.5 kg or 11.5 kg rather than 20 kg. A gentle transition over 7–10 days helps most dogs accept the new food.
